# ChatGPT now connects directly to Epic EMR & it is HIPAA-compliant

Saw this today: OpenAI just announced a new Epic integration and a Healthcare Public Data plugin that let ChatGPT for Healthcare pull authorized patient context straight from the EHR, plus structured connectors to sources like PubMed, DailyMed, RxNorm, [ClinicalTrials.gov](http://ClinicalTrials.gov), and CMS Coverage.

OpenAI says ChatGPT for Healthcare supports HIPAA-compliant workflows _if_ the organization has a signed Business Associate Agreement (BAA)

I looked into Google’s side and it turns out Gemini in Google Workspace is covered under Google’s HIPAA Business Associate Addendum, as long as you’re on a paid Workspace plan and have accepted the BAA in the Admin console (Account settings → Legal and compliance → Security and Privacy Additional Terms).
