Changed browser - Reports won't print

It was recommended that we run OpenEMR under Firefox, that it would behave better than when running in IE8.
So I installed Firefox 18 on about 30 machines setting it to the default browser.
A while later I was resetting everyone back to defaulting to the IE browser as half of the links we’ve used for years (Insurance claims sites, PACS sites, etc) were erroring out as incompatible with firefox.  So I threwe together a launcher for OpenEMR to explicitly execute firefox.exe and pass it the URL. I thought things were fixed.

We’ve now discovered that if you start OpenEMR in Firefox, generate and try to print a report, a dialog with a progress bar will popup, and close without error, then nothing.  No jobs in the print queue, and nothing waiting at the printer.  I can successfully print a test page through windows. I can launch OpenEMR in IE8, generate the same report and it prints without trouble.

Would anyone know why printed reports would vanish into oblivion under Firefox, and on the same machine print properly under IE?

Thank you.

Just an update…
It’s turned out to be one of those fun issues, which aren’t supposed to exist in the binary True/False world of IT.
The problem is intermittant.  One minute you can print a report, a minute later and they are sent into the Twilight Zone.
