CCHIT restricted access for doctor

Hey, I am new and trying to learn how to work the openemr 4.0 system.  I am supposed to run some scenarios under the CCHIT certification test script.  For this test there is a nurse (Ellen Thompson) and a doctor (Dr. Alexander).  About them it says:

There must be a patient record for Ellen Thompson. Patient ID for Ellen Thompson is PID#41205321. As Ellen Thompson is Dr. Alexander‟s sister-in-law, Dr. Alexander should not have access to Ellen Thompson‟s chart.

Any body know how to do that?  Thanks.

CCHIT is an excellent organization offering several EHR certification programs that go above and beyond the requirements for 2011 ONC certification of EHRs.  NIST specifies the test procedures for 2011 ONC Certification of EHRs at : http://healthcare.nist.gov/use_testing/index.html.  I don’t believe that the use case you speak of is required for 2011 Meaningful Use and 2011 Certification of EHR.

I am not an expert in this stuff, and I too never read about this as a requirement on the Meaningful Use area, but certification may have different demands.  Anyways, it is definitely on the test script I am working with.  I’m not sure it is possible or not to restrict access to certain records.  I have yet to find evidence it is, but I am still working with just the basic features covered in the manual.  Does anyone know about it?

CCHIT’s program for ONC 2011 certification is called “Preliminary ARRA IFR Stage 1”, and would not require the test you mention.  You must be working from the CCHIT program named “CCHIT Certified® 2011”, which is a “value added” certification program including more capabilities than ONC 2011 certification requires.  You are not likely to find these CCHIT value-added capabilities in OpenEMR.

Yes, I think that is the program I am working with.  Its official name is: CCHIT Certified 2011 Ambulatory EHR Test Script 20100326.  Thanks for your help

All,

I think we need this functionality in 4.0 as some of our clients are requesting it.
