I was looking through the wiki and saw that it no longer said CCHIT certified. It said ONC certified. Then I checked the ONC site and it is not listed on the ONC site either. Has the product lost the CCHIT certification? I see that the certification is not forever and that a product has to recert every year? Is there a fund to support the recertification process?
That’s a common confusion. OpenEMR has NEVER been and never intended to be CCHIT certified. We are ONC ATB Certified by ICSA Labs. CCHIT is just a different company that does ONC certifications among other things.
I understand that the stage 2 meaningful use objectives have not been defined yet. However, is it fair to say that OpenEMR will more than likely need to be upgraded and re-certified by ONC once the objectives and associated EHR certification criteria for stage 2 are defined?
That is very much the way it is, to maintain viability in the USA we must be ONC certified. Donation of funds to the OEMR for this project and reliable, committed volunteer development will be needed.
