Cannot add to medication list?

Hi, first of all sorry for the noob question - I tried to search this forum and the closest I got was this:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/openemr/forums/forum/202504/topic/3189923

When I edit the Medication in the Patient issues section, the drop down list comprises only three drugs (Norvasc, Lipitor and Metformin). I can type in a new Drug in the Title field but there doesn’t seem to be a way to Add this to the list.
I can’t find it In the Administration section either.

Help!

Thanks

That data is stored in a text file: openemr/sites/default/clickoptions.txt  I believe it must be changed with an external editor.

Thank you so much. That works, though it would be cool if the list were dynamic and end users could add to it “on-the-fly”

OpenEMR will autofill  all the Prescreptions fields for you. Here’s how

1. Enable ‘Inventory’ in left nav
Administration>Globals>Features>Drugs and Products>Inventory and sell drugs only (from drop down list)

2.Add drugs and dosages you use
Inventory > Management > Add Drug.
After filling in the popup form click Save. Another form comes up click Cancel if you  are not stocking medication.

3.Now when you edit Prescriptions>Add>in-house (–or select from inventory --)
You can select from the drop-down list or type in the generic name. The other fields fill in automagically. You can edit them here if required

You never again have to fill in all fields for that particular drug. Your prescription is written out in two clicks. I’ve found this tremendously time saving.

Hope this was useful

Thanks for the tip. I can’t seem to find “Inventory” in the left nav panel  though.

‘Inventory’ tab should be there after you enable it through Admin>Globals in 4.x. In the earlier versions it was enabled through the globals.php file and then located directly on the Admin page.
