CAMOS update with new Rx generator

I did some clean up of CAMOS and added a new feature which I can’t wait to use myself.

I have been printing 8.5" x 11" prescriptions for the past two years.  I do put multiple prescriptions on a page, but they are inconvenient for pharmacists and limited by schedule II drugs which must go on their own page.

The new prescription generator divides the page into four rectangles with a separate prescription in each box.

Just check on the ‘Rx’ link when viewing a CAMOS entry in an encounter.  It will open a new page with a list of the days CAMOS entries with check boxes.  Check up to four items and submit.  The prescription page will appear and you can print it.  It must be printed in landscape mode with 0" margins.

I am sure there will be issues to address after I start using it at work, but please take a look and try it out.

The physician info is all taken from the users table.  I don’t know if it would be more appropriate to get address and phone info from the facility table.

On second thought, Maybe let me use it in the office for a week or two before downloading and trying it.  It’s incredible how many little problems don’t get picked up until some real world testing is done.

It is a nice feature to print 4 scripts on one page. I tried and it is working well except for one thing: I plan to print on a different printer for the prescriptions since it needs special paper, and it seems if I change the settings to landscape printing with 0 margins, all other printers’ settings are also changed to same if I print from the same computer.  Is there possibilities the settings can be specific for that particular printer used for prescriptions?  I am using windows xp system.

Any help  is greatly appreciated, and Happy Thanksgiving.

Does the new version record the prescriptions in the prescriptions table & add them to the patient record?
We would love to use the 4-part forms, but since the prescriptions created using the CAMOS method are not added to the patient’s record, they don’t show up in the patient summary or Rx report, which is confusing to the staff at best & a nasty legal liability at worst.

I use one printer for prescription printing and one for printing progress notes from the same computer and browser.  I have my margins set to 0 and it has not been a problem.  The progress notes are generated as PDFs and prescriptions are html from the 4-part prescription generator.

If you can’t get it to work, maybe you could use a dedicated computer/printer for prescriptions.

Regarding CAMOS entries not being recorded in the chart, they are.  They are entered as form entries like any other OpenEMR plugin form.  You can look at these entries in the encounter screen.

If you prefer to use the traditional prescription module that comes with OpenEMR, there is a link now to use the CAMOS 4-part prescriptions with those entries in the prescriptions table.
