As Bower team keeps recommending, the project needs to discontinue use of bower.
Is there a path+timeline for replacement?
Yes, it’s actively being worked on by @d3sandoval, hopefully the migration will be complete soon

Timeline is 2-3 weeks. Currently moving across the country so there’s been a delay in my ability to make a PR. But I’m about 75% through replacing the explicit (and implicit) dependencies in the /public directory with npm and github-sourced packages.
