We are in the process of transitioning our billing to utilize OpenEMR. I am currently testing on my development machine and have a couple of questions:
1.) Do I need to have SQL Ledger or FreeB installed for basic billing testing? It appears that SQL Ledger is only required for advanced accounting features and FreeB for printing paper forms. I want to create a ANSIX12 test file to send to our clearing house before installing SQL Ledger and FreeB ( if this is possible).
2.) I am currently having trouble with the “Billing” button in OpenEMR. I followed the screen shots at Rod’s website ( Sunset Systems) for billing.
“Randy clicks the checkbox for the encounter, which enables a set of buttons. At this point he could choose HCFA 1500 or UB-92 paper claims, or X12 electronic claims. Some clearinghouses will also take 1500’s or UB-92’s electronically, in which case the button to queue those without printing would be selected.”
However, I have a different scenario. When I select a given date range and click “Change View”, a patient list of encounters displays for the date range. However, there are no check boxes to the right of the patient’s encounter like there are on the screen shots from Rod’s web site. Is there a setting that I am missing to have the check box displayed?
Please advise.
