Adding multiple addresses to demographics pag

Hello Everyone,
I work at a Therapeutic Treatment Facility and have just downloaded OpenEMR.  We are under the gun to get everything online.  This software looks very promising to me and I’ve started to edit the demographics.  I have a question though.  In our treatment facility, our clients can have many agencies associated with them.  I  am wondering how to enter these agencies into the system so they can be pulled up in the demographics page or if not there, somewhere within the system.  Do I add them under Provider?  They won’t have access to the system.  I just need a way to enter them for viewing purposes and then pull them into documentations.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Likely several solutions but here is one I can think of without needing coding:
1. You can also add organizations to the Administration-.Addr Book and can even add new Addr Book categories in the Administration->Lists->Address Book Types
2. You can add additional fields by modifying the demographics layout via the Layout editor at Administration->Layouts, and by setting ‘Organizations’ for the ‘Data Type’ you will basically get to select an item from the address book that you placed in step 1. Also, I’d recommend never removing original fields (simply set them as ‘Unused’ in UOR column if don’t want to use them) in the layouts editor.

Hi (some confusing typos, so cleaned up and reposted),

Likely several solutions but here is one I can think of without needing coding:
1. You can add organizations to the Administration->Addr Book and can even add new Addr Book categories in the Administration->Lists->Address Book Types (I would add the new types first, if applicable, before adding the organizations to the address book)
2. You can then add additional fields to demographics by modifying the demographics layout via the Layout editor at Administration->Layouts, and can set ‘Organizations’ for the ‘Data Type’, so user will then get to select an item from the address book items that you placed in step 1. Also, I’d recommend never removing original fields (simply set them as ‘Unused’ in UOR column if don’t want to use them) in the layouts editor.

Thank you Brady …… I’ll give that a shot.  Yes, I agree about not removing the original fields.  I have set them as “Unused” and have also added new groups to fit out purposes.
I can honestly say I am so impressed with this EMR.  I have no money in my budget and very limited knowledge when it comes to coding so this has been a fantastic find for me.  I love that it can be customized to fit various clinics/organizations.
Thank you again!

I have one more question.  Is there a way to edit the Address Book fields or should I create another Layout page?
The reason I’m asking is we have many agency workers with the same address.  It would be much easier for the person who inputs the data to be able to add the name and then select the address associated with them.
Is there a way to do this?  I’ll play around a bit to see if I can figure it out, but I’m not really sure how to do this outside of the client side.
Thank you again.

Oh never mind.  I can be so clueless sometimes.  I figured it out.
Thank you again!

Well I’m back again.  I’m not sure that is going to work for me after all.
I was looking at the Practice Settings page where Pharmacies are listed.
Is there anyway I can add to the Practice Settings?  And then have that added to the Data Type field in the Demographics layout form?
If I could, that would be exactly what I need.
Thank you again.

Hi,

Why is it not working? There is a ‘Pharmacies’ Data Type selection in the Administration->Layouts editor. Will that work?

Hi Brady,
Yes the Pharmacies data type will work for what I need.  I guess I was thinking that only Pharmacies could be added there.
I was looking to add another sub category under Practice Settings that would have been very similar to the Pharmacies tab.
But if that will work, then I’ll use that.
Thank you again!!
