500 server error on documents upload

When we select documents and then from the document list a category such as Patient ID Card, when I select either a jpg or pdf, it uploads it however, i get a 500 server error on the documents uploaded. Is this a permissions error? If so, what kind and where would I correct this? This is kinda important.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue where you cannot upload successfully documents to the clients documents module?

Drivers lic., Insurance card scan, any kind of scanned document, or any type of document?

Does anyone know the path for uploaded files (documents)? I don’t know what the permissions should be. It could be a permissions issue for that directory. Anyone?

I can’t upload anything for a client.

sure, you have to ensure the documents directory is writable which should have been set during the install

webroot/sites/<default>/documents/
