1.  Generate Patient List:  I am not entirely sure what this means.  I can get lists of patients from a period and that share a name.  I have yet found a way to get a complete list of all the patients.

2.  Patient specific education resources:  Not entirely sure what this means, but I am guessing they want the software to have education resources for patients.  I do not see the value in that if that is the case.  The software is not meant to be trafficked by patients as far as I know.

3.  Automatic log-off:  Software does not do it as far as I know.  I understand this is for security reasons, but I question its value based on the fact that many offices will be running this system continuously and it might be an unnecessary repetition to log in every few minutes.

4.  General encryption and encryption when exchanging info:  That seems like it would be the servers and internet providers responsibility and not the software’s.

5.  Clinical decision support:  Assuming this means the software is supposed to aid the practice in its decisions, I question the value of this as other programs already do it.  And years of education would be a better support than software.

Well I guess the purpose of this post was to generate dialog on what path 4.0 is taking for certification and if it is expected to meet most of these upon release and to check my understanding of what the system can and can’t do as well as my understanding of this test list.

Thanks,

-Jay

Hi Jay,

OpenEMR QA against ONC NIST test procedures is taken care by ViCarePlus Team, Visolve and the details of the same are present in http://openmedsoftware.org/wiki/OpenEMR_QA_against_NIST. This is an ongoing activity and please refer this site for the updated NIST QA report for OpenEMR.

NIST had released its next version V1.1 of the test procedures recently.

Thanks

Okay, thanks.  That is an easy way to check on how the certification process is going.
